With more than 45 years in operation, Fujiya Japanese Garden opened its doors on September 1, 1970 at Fredericksburg Road and North Zarzamora. It was founded, owned and operated by Joan “Mama” Momohira Wester and her husband, retired Air Force Major “Wes” Wester.
After sixteen years at this location, the Japanese restaurant moved and reopened in 1986 on Fredericksburg Road. The Westers incorporated the restaurant as “Sushi and More, Inc.” under the general guidance of “Mama.” We are very proud of our long standing reputation for excellent Japanese food and service, and are particularly proud of our sushi bar, which became part of our operation in 1986.
On April 1, 1996, we closed the Fredericksburg location and moved to our present location in San Antonio, which opened on April 19, 1996. We are now proud to serve San Antonio, TX's best Japanese food and sushi lunch out of our new location centrally located at 9030 Wurzbach Road. Please stop into our Japanese restaurant today and enjoy some great Japanese food, including bento boxes and our famous sushi bar.
We say to you “YOKU IRRASHAI MASHITA” (welcome). Our Japanese restaurant has hundreds of loyal customers who have been with us from the original opening, many of them young lovers and newlyweds who now bring not only their children, but their grandchildren to Fujiya. We welcome them, as well as many new aficionados of Japanese cuisine to the Fujiya family.
Although “Mama” is gone, her memory remains close to the heart in all of us. We will continue to offer our fine food and superior service as we have done for more than four decades. Please come join us at our delicious Japanese restaurant.
